What are vacuum plates for block vacuum cups and what are they used for?

• VCSP-O (Top): This vacuum plate sits on the top side of the block vacuum cup and lies directly against the workpiece. It is made of soft TPE so that it can adapt to the workpiece surface. Models with MOS sealing edge (foam rubber) are ideally suited to textured or slightly uneven surfaces.

• VCSP-U (Bottom) / sealing frame (VCDR): The lower vacuum plate or sealing frame seals the underside of the block vacuum cup against the machine table surface. It is crucial for building the vacuum and must be precisely matched to the block vacuum cup.

Vacuum plates – also referred to as vacuum plates or replacement vacuum plates – are the direct contact elements between the block vacuum cup and the workpiece to be machined. They seal the vacuum chamber and ensure that the workpiece is securely fixed on the CNC machine table without slipping, without using mechanical clamping devices.

As vacuum plates are subject to constant wear from pressure, heat and contact with various materials, they are among the most frequently replaced wear parts in CNC production – comparable to cutters or extraction nozzles. Regular replacement ensures vacuum tightness and prevents rejects caused by slipped workpieces.

The dual-circuit system offers significantly higher process reliability thanks to its two independent vacuum channels—especially for small or delicate workpieces.
