Profile scraper tools for edge banding machines.
Profile scraper tools are a key element in post-processing on edge banding machines. They are used to precisely profile applied edging and to create sharply defined bevels or radii on workpiece edges. In contrast to rotating routing tools, profile scrapers work with a guided, linear scraping action – the result is a smooth surface requiring minimal reworking, with high dimensional accuracy.
Design and operating principle
The tool system consists of a tool holder (aggregate) and replaceable blades, the so-called profile scraper blades. The blades are secured form-fit in the holder and can be changed quickly once worn, without removing the entire unit. The cutting geometry of the blade determines the profile produced – typical versions are 20° bevel, 45° bevel and radius profiles in various sizes.
Compatibility and use
The replaceable blades in our range are suitable for common edge banding machines from well-known manufacturers, including models such as FlexEdge, Pacific+, StrongEdge, TopEdge, Tornado+ and TornadoTop. The tools are generally used in the upper and lower aggregates of the machine (AZK2 / AZK4) and are responsible there for symmetrical edge processing on both sides of the workpiece.
Replaceable blades in tungsten carbide (HW)
Our replaceable blades are made from tungsten carbide (HW), a composite material with very high wear resistance and cutting-edge stability. HW blades are suitable for machining all common edging materials – from PVC and ABS to melamine and wood veneers. The high hardness of the cutting material ensures consistent profile quality over long service life, even at high feed rates.
Cost-effectiveness through quick blade changes
The replaceable blade concept minimises machine downtime: once the blade is worn, it is replaced in just a few simple steps – without regrinding, without time-consuming re-setting. Manufacturers such as Leitz have implemented this system consistently in their tool holders. This makes it possible to run profile scraper tools economically and process reliably in series production.
